A Perfect Memory layout

Hi and welcome to my blog! I recently got an order of scrap goodies and one of my favorite things was the Time Traveller paper collection from Prima.

Prima - Time Travelers Memories - 12x12 Collection Kit - 814168
This collection has stunning vintage papers, tags, journaling tags and so much more... I love it!! It was perfect for my layout documenting our family vacation to Fortress Loiusbourg recently. I used Sketchabilities  sketch # 121 to get my layout started.

 Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout ......

This layout was pretty basic- I used a sheet from the collection that had some really cool vintage elements on it. I only added a few details to the base; a bit of black Gesso over a stencil ( The Crafter's Workshop) and then used a Distress Stain (Vintage Photo) over another stencil ( chicken wire) . The background paper didn't really need much more. The title, tags , stickers and mats are all from the same collection. I adhered a few Prima and Petaloo flowers , a metal sticker , a stickpin and some seam binding ribbon for the tags.

I can't wait to create some more layouts with this fabulous paper collection! Thanks for visiting my blog today- I hope you enjoyed my layout! Have a wonderful creative day!

A Bokeh card

Hi again! I'm back with another card to share with you . Here's the current challenge over at The Friday Mashup:

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with the "Bokeh Technique".  Link to technique here.
  • Create a project with "Die Cuts".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Bokeh project using a Die Cut".

 Here's my card:

I made my card using a very simple and quick from Bokeh technique that I found on Splitcoaststampers ( click here for the tutorial). I used a cityscape stamp from Hero Arts  and then created my Bokeh background using three shades of yellow ink. I fussy cut the stamped buildings and popped a few out for a more dimensional look. I stamped a banner and sentiment ( can't remember the set name!! )for the front. This card was pretty simple but I really love the Bokeh effect.

That's my card for the Friday Mashup .... thanks for looking!

Such a Flake card

Hi and welcome to my blog! I've been thinking about the current challenge at Jingle Belles for the past week ,trying to come up with something . The challenge is to make something for someone who maybe  doesn't celebrate Christmas. I was looking through my stamps and found these cute stamps from CC Designs Stamps ( check out their blog) and I knew I found my mojo !

Here's my card......

Isn't she such a cutie??? I colored her with my Copic markers  and added some glitter for her fur trim. I found some snowflake paper, a transparency snowflake in my stash and I added an embossed strip of white cardstock and a bit of glitter tape and my card is done!!

Thanks for visiting my blog ..... have a wonderful creative day!!

Pure Joy layout

Hi again! I have a layout to share with you today. My oldest daughter loves our Aussie - mix dog and he loves her too! I snapped this photo one evening while we were all enjoying a warm evening by the fire. Of course, I knew I would have to scrap it one day.

I used the current challenge over at Frosted Designs ( use chevrons on your project)  and CSI current case file 135   to get my layout started. I kept the layout pretty ... I really wanted to keep the photo the central focus. I stenciled chevrons ( The Crafter's Workshop) alongside the picture and on the top. I added a few rhinestone chevrons and some chevron washi tape , 'cause I love them!!! I stamped "too much fun" word bubble and added a pure joy vellum title. A few flowers ,a clear photo overlay, some bling and buttons and this page is done!!!

Thanks for stopping by... have a wonderful creative day!

Happy birthday my Friend....

Hi , welcome to my blog. The current challenge at Shopping Our Stash is to use chipboard from your stash. This is the perfect challenge for me - I have tons of chipboard leftover from projects ... at least three years or more!! I decided to use a chipboard frame for my card.... take a look:

I  covered the frame and small flower in Prima  blue metallic chalk and then it with Perfect Pearls Mist in  Blue Raspberry. When it was dry I used a stencil ( only for the frame)from The Crafters Workshop ( Sketch Grid) and applied a layer of crackle paste and misted it again with the blue mist.  The metallic sheen doesn't really show that well in the photo but it's quite nice in person! I also misted the chipboard owl in Bronze perfect Pearls mist ... again , I wish you could see how glimmer it is!!!My dp is from Lost and Found 3 collection from My Mind's Eye. The paper has glitter , so it really complements all accent pieces well. Finally, I dug around my stash and found some old rub-on sentiments from Stampin' Up! . Lots of old stuff got used here!!!

That's my card for this week's challenge... hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by... have a wonderful creative day!

Cousins layout

Hi and welcome to my blog!  One of my most important tools for scrapbooking is to start with a good sketch . It gets my ideas flowing and helps me complete my pages so much quicker than if I started  from scratch! I used this great sketch from Kreative Concepts for my layout dedicated to my DD and her youngest cousin, who spent several weeks with us last summer.

Check out the sketch :

Sketch Challenge #28

I already had my photo of the girls printed so I went with just one for this layout. take a look.....

I started with a paper from Recollections ( Michaels brand) called Portobello Road

This is beautiful collection of subtle hues of blues, browns and creams with glitter treatments on several of the papers. For my layout I used a bluish green page that had a subtle script. For a pop of color and to follow along with the sketch, I stamped hexagons in a variety of oranges, browns and blues . I used Honeycomb Flair from CTMH - this was a set I bought when I was still a Demo but it hadn't seen ink until now!! I love all the patterns that come in this set... so much versatility!!! I also stamped a mini title on the side with another fav CTMH set called All the Details- Everyday Life. My larger title was created using two sets of Thickers and for a bit of interest . I splattered ink from October Afternoon  Sprinklers in Crepe Paper and paper Doily. These inks are so rich in color that even the white pops out  clearly from a page! To finish off my layout I adhered some sequins (Prima) and that's it-my page is finished!! I love that it took under half an hour from start to finish for this layout!

I hope you enjoyed my layout ... thanks for dropping by my blog today! Have a wonderful creative day!!

Happy Birthday card

Hi all! I'm back after a mini vacation ... a few days to do a bit of sightseeing, do some back to school shopping and most importantly, pick up my daughter from a six-week cadet camp. It was so good to see her again and to have her home with us! I purchased a few goodies on my little trip and I used them to help create my card for this month's Cardabilities August sketch.

Here's the sketch:

Here's my card based on the sketch............

I started off with yellow cardstock for the base and then used papers from a 6X6 paper pad from My Mind's Eye called Indie Chic. I used my new stencil from The Crafter's Workshop called Mini Love Post and inked it up with Tim Holtz distress stains in Vintage Paper and Tarnished Brass. I also inked a music note stamp in those same stains and randomly stamped .I used baby wipe that had the Vintage Photo stain on it  and smudged it over the card edges . A Prima flower , some dark brown hemp , a wooden clock (inked with distress stain) from Michaels, a few Silhouette rhinestones and a sentiment from Verve stamps and my card is complete!
I just love how these sketches help my cards come together so quickly... really makes cardmaking fun again!!

Thanks for stopping by today... have a wonderful ,crafty day!!!

Snowglobe Boxcard

Hi all! The current challenge over at Jingle Belles is to make a shaped card - anything goes except square or rectangle cards. decided to make a boxcard for this challenge...

I used a cutfile from SVG Cuts called Christmas Boxcards to make my snowglobe card. This wa fairly simple to make , just cut out and assemble. Iused a  blue sparkly snowflake paper which I had laying around  in my Christmas paper stash for a couple of years or longer! I added some glitter and bling to the snowflakes and a couple of deer to the church layer. I love how this card folds flat and has a coordinating envelope file so there's no trouble mailing it!!

To view the Youtube video n how to assemble the boxcards click here.

One more Christmas card completed-- yay!!!

dream big layout

Hi all!!! This month over at Scrap the Boys , they are asking us to scrap what makes our guy tick.... to profile them. Well, when it comes to my son, that is easy---- anything to do with engines, cars, etc!!! He's 11 years old and al he thinks about , dreams about and mainly all he talks about is cars , engines or something related to it! I snapped a whole bunch of pics of him at a recent car-bike show , knowing one day I'd actually get around to scrapping  them! Here's my layout.....

I started off with this fun patterned paper from DCWV called The Generation Stack- it's mainly aimed at texting, gaming but I think it worked well for this layout. I used some embossing paste and a chevron stencil for the sides and then colored them with a green Gelato pigment stick. The polka dot  paper is also from that collection- I just inked it up with oranges and blues inks. .I made my own polaroid frame and stamped a sentiment from CTMH Maximum Power stamp set on it. The "right now " stamp is from Heidi Swapp ( for the journaling pocket) and of course, I used my favorite AC Thickers for the title. A few Basic Grey embellishments and this page is done!! Really, a simple and quick layout!
That's my layout -- hope you liked!!! Go check out Scrap the Boys blog for more ideas and inspiration!

Precious life layout...

Good afternoon! Another sketch has been released over at Sketchabilities, and of course , it's great!!! I love all the possibilities of layering and playing with different types of mixed media. The DT inspiration layouts are an added bonus- so much talent!!!Make sure you check out their designs!!

  Here is the latest sketch.....

I started my layout with papers from Teresa Collins Summer Stories collection and this is what I came up with.........

I laid a base coat of Gesso around the center of the base layer and went from there! You can hardly see it but I did stencil some  chevron in Tim Holtz gold metallic distress stain. It kinda blended into the background so I stamped a bit of CTMH houndstooth and burlap throughout the page, too. Pretty much everything is edged with Prima fluid chalk ink ( Black Coal) and-or distressed. The journaling tag and elements are all from Teresa Collins with the exception of the chipboard flower and button, which are from Prima, and the Washi polka dot tape is from CTMH.I may get around to adding some journaling- more than likely I will tuck it behind the photo or the journaling mat. One of these day...... lol!!! I added a notebook strip of cardstock in pale blue for a pop of color ( SU! spiral punch).

I love how quickly this page came together- having a great sketch really gets my creative mojo going!

That s my Sketchablities layout- hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by today.....have a creative day!!!
